Google Maps: Visitors / Deliveries

Please bear in mind that the Art House is a city centre venue and does not have parking right outside, however there is a lot of parking nearby.

We are on many major bus routes and close to Southampton Central train station, as well as on a main cycle route into the city.

On foot from London Road:

Walk to the bottom end of London Road, cross over Brunswick Place (busy main road) straight ahead on the left-hand side of Above Bar Street with parks on either side of you.  Walk south, past Beatnik Emporium on the corner, keep going until you see our signs!  If you get to the Old Fat Cat pub, you’ve missed us.

On foot from the city centre (using the Bargate as your starting point):

Head north uphill away from the Bargate until you get to the end of the pedestrian precinct, with a park on your right.  Stay on the right hand side of the road and continue straight ahead, cross over the intersection (there’s a KFC on the opposite corner) and continue up Above Bar Street, across the Guildhall Square, past The Old Fat Cat pub, you’ll see our signs right ahead.

Get to us by bicycle:

We’re on the main cycle route into the city centre and it’s possible to reach us without going on any really big roads or roundabouts.  To plan your journey, visit CycleStreets.

Get to us by bus:

Buses are reliable and frequent even later in the evening and stop less than a minute away from us.

Full details of bus services can be seen on the Bluestar, First Group and Unilink websites.

Get to us by train:

Southampton Central Train station is about 10 minutes easy walk from us.  Follow signposts for the city centre and art gallery.  When you reach the art gallery (which has a large fountain outside of it and a park over the road) walk straight ahead with the park to your left and the gallery to your right, across West Marlands Road and to the next corner.  You will see us directly ahead of you over the zebra crossing.

Details of train times can be seen here

If you do need to drive, here are some suggestions of where to park (all are correct to our knowledge, but please note that things may change – please let us know if anything here is wrong).

Please note that there is an evening parking charge in Southampton, so pay close attention to any signage.  You can find out more here.

There are long stay multi-storey carparks in Grosvenor Square, Bedford Place, West Park Road and Charlotte Place all of which are about 5 minutes walk from us.

Disabled spaces

There is disabled parking outside the City Art Gallery, directly opposite us.  Please do not park in these spaces if you do not have a badge as customers have had parking tickets in the past (also it’s not very nice!)

Evenings

Please note that there is a small charge for evening car parking.

Safety

We are in a busy area which has a lot of activity in the evenings, and have had no reported incidents of anything untoward happening to customers leaving us late at night.

Most of our events end around 10.30pm and the area is well policed at this time!  We recommend NOT walking through the parks on your own late at night, though.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Please do not park in the East Park Depot behind as, this is not a public car park and they can (and will) clamp you even if you’re only there for 10 minutes.  If you need to drop off heavy equipment, you can come into the Depot but please stay near your car whilst you unload and only stop directly behind The Art House.

If you need to unload anything….

You can do so via our back door, however please don’t ever leave your vehicle unattended there – they will clamp you!
