Bunker 178 is the mobile and virtual offshoot of The Art House, a post-apocalyptic performance popup in Southampton, UK. Bringing small-scale, grassroots and unusual events in local places and online – a safer space for all to enjoy music, poetry and performance.
From April 2024, we leave our permanent home at 178 Above Bar St and take our Bunker with us to continue offering grassroots performance and art events in likeminded spaces and online.
We’ve been using ‘Bunker178’ to describe our performance space since we reopened post-lockdowns, and our events elsewhere will have the same funky, post-apocalyptic feel, be safer spaces always and bring you the very best of grassroots, fringe and outsider art and performance.
A Bunker is a place of safety, an informal space where DIY and making do is central. Our experienced crew and sound engineer will work with partner spaces to bring unusual and accessible events to the Southampton community, the way we’ve been doing for nearly 20 years. Expect an intimate, welcoming experience unlike your typical music venue or theatre.
