Folk on the Stairs: how many musicians does it take to fill a staircase?

Folk on the Stairs is a fab local project by musician Jim Chorley, a long-term friend of The Art House.

In October, Jani and Bik headed over to Jim and Lorna’s colourful house to squish all 5 band members of their band, The Shimmering Bees onto the staircase and film the band playing two songs back to back, in cosy circumstances.

As musicians, it’s inspirational both to share our music in unusual ways, and an extra bonus was a chance to catch up with Jim and Lorna and share ideas about what we’re all up to.

Over a cuppa, we compared creative equipment addictions (Lorna – sewing machines, Bik – electronic music gadgets) and caught up on some local gossip, before taking to the staircase to play.

The songs are ‘Five Bells’ and ‘Romanian Romp’ – both by the band’s fiddle player Chris Townsend.
