Lovely message from Jason Buck, Storyteller

Jason approached us many years ago to do his very first ‘proper’ storytelling show here. Since then we have been delighted, amused and amazed by his talent – not only for live storytelling but for illustration (he now has several books published and they’re beautiful).

The Art House was set up to be a space where people had a ‘first go’ at their artform and Jason epitomises this for us. Like many others, he went on to become a full-time, professional in his artform, but continued to return to our venue (which is how it should be, because grassroots venues need a share in people’s success if we’re to flourish).

We’ve had the honour of watching Jason’s journey from that first show to where he is today (and watched his son grow rapidly taller during the same time to be a longshanks like his Dad).

Here’s what Jason had to say:

The Art House will always be the place where I did my first professional, ticketed, show which told me I could do this for real. You made it possible for me to break the golden handcuffs of corporate indenture.

Thank you all for being a huge step up and onward in my existence and changing my life for the better … for me … and for those I love.

Thank you x

Jason returns here one last time for ‘Valentine Noire – Dark Heart stories & burlesque‘ with Ravenna Grimm on Friday 9 February – book here!
