On Thursday, 21st September 2023 at 7:45 PM, Sarah Twist will be hosting an interactive talk at The Art House. The talk will focus on the process of making fibre and crafting clothes. Sarah, a local fibre enthusiast, will provide information about different fabric types and clothing materials, giving attendees a new perspective on their own clothes.
During the talk, participants will have the opportunity to create their own yarn using locally available fibres. All materials for the workshop will be provided, and attendees can take their creations home with them. If you have severe allergies to specific plants or animals, please inform the organizers when booking, as alternative options may be available.

Moving Voices, Southampton’s longest running open mic event for poetry, song, storytelling, and spoken word, is back with some longer slots for open mic performers. This month’s event will feature special guest Carlton Clements, a singer, songwriter, and poet. Southampton Pride 2023 will be held on Saturday, August 26th at Guildhall Square. As part of the event, The Art House will be hosting a fringe event showcasing local talent. The event will feature performances by Fragile Lucy, Cat Elliot, Piper Summers, Jayne Ede, Carrie Laythorpe, J Pyrite, Nick Haynes, and RKP. The performances will be hosted by Nicola Beck. The event will also include a gender-neutral clothes swap, a community pantry, and a quiet space for those who need a break from the busyness.
