Busy day today with lots of people in for hot drinks and groceries. Gill was poorly and Zigz had a medical appointment (not rona, not serious) so Graham held the fort with volunteers Simone & David.
A regular came in wrapped in a sleeping bag and looking cold and miserable after a really rough night. We were able to offer a hot drink, a place to warm up and some friendly banter. They’d already been given a coat from our rack on the weekend but also took a shine to one of my shawls that I’d donated, being a bright red and pure wool it made a very spiffing scarf and super warm.
Meeting with the agent who is managing the letting of our building to give him keys and moan about the sign that is obscuring our sign! That’s getting moved, anyway. He was a friendly chap and curious about what we do.
Lots of chats with people about our future plans, folks dropping in for the Jumble sale, a staff member from a space arts looking over some of our equipment that we won’t be taking with us, which might be useful for their spaces at God’s House Tower and Arches Studios. It was good to catch up in person as we usually only ‘see’ them online, we’re so busy here.
Nicola all this time was making cake and soup and Graham’s lad who is doing work experience with us kept Missy dog company upstairs whilst he did some shredding. The confidential paper kind, not the guitar kind.
Passed on some of our plates and cutlery to a local person who does regular vegan fundraising suppers.
Dipper (dog, pictured) came in with some regulars and happiness ensued, we always love to have a dog in the House.
