Helen Gentile & Lewis Wood, a talented duo deeply rooted in the folk music community in England, will be performing original and dynamic arrangements of European folk dance tunes on clarinet and violin. Their loose and ever-evolving arrangements allow for improvisation and highlight the interplay between the instruments and dancers. Their debut live album, “Alors, on danse!”, captures a snapshot of live music during a time when gigs are scarce and livestreams are the primary method of consumption. The album focuses on the balfolk repertoire, celebrating the diversity of European folk dance forms. Attila the Stockbroker’s Barnstormer 1649 is a unique blend of early music and punk with a historical and political message. Led by Attila the Stockbroker, a punk poet, singer-songwriter, and social commentator, the band aims to do for early music what the Pogues did for Irish music. Attila plays a variety of instruments from the period, including crumhorn, cornemuse, and violin, and his songs are inspired by the radical movements of the English Civil War. With a lifelong commitment to activism, Attila has been involved in various political battles and movements. Despite the serious themes, his performances are known for their humor and he has shared the stage with notable acts like Manic Street Preachers and Billy Bragg.
