One last round with one of our favourite regular events from years gone by, Three Monkeys.

The evening is organised by Steve Lowis, who had the opportunity to take part in an “In The Round” session in a little venue called Zoey Cafe (www.zoeyscafe.com) in Ventura. Three Monkeys was born from this idea and ran regularly at The Art House for eight years.

Three artists, some local, some passing through, play, each take it in turns to play a song and take the time to talk about the song and their inspiration. The result is an intimate, interactive evening of music that is very up close and personal. A truly unique format that we are delighted to welcome back for ‘One Last Round’ before we leave our building in Above Bar Street.
Steve Lowis

Steve is a dynamic folk/pop singer-songwriter living in Southampton, renowned for his friendliness and highly original creative flair. His album “Chapters,” uniquely combined a photo and lyric book (with a CD and download code.) This inventive approach earned it a spot in the National Library’s audio vault and consistent airplay in Bulgaria after winning a prize to record a single at the Sofia Singer Songwriter Fest).
Currently, Steve is immersed in developing his EP, “Second Hand Books,” which promises to be an exciting addition to his collection. He’s not just about his own music, though. As a key figure in the Southampton music scene, Steve leads Sofar Sounds in the city and runs Sound Level Events, bringing unique corporate and public events to life across Hampshire.
Watch:
Steve’s passion for community shines through in his work with the Southampton Networking Group (SoNG), which he co-founded with Tom Gibson from Blackhill Studios. Their mission? To knit together Southampton’s music talents, creating a buzzing and interconnected scene, championed by the flourishing #somusiccity campaign.
Jack Dale
Jack has established himself as a brilliant songwriter, singer and guitarist over many years of musicking in Southampton. His style is a blend of folk and blues influences like Kelly Joe Phelps, Nick Drake, John Martyn and Charlie Parr. Jack’s originals band ‘The Horse’ has now disbanded and he is currently working on exciting new music with Double Bass maestro; Bastien Terraz (Jack & Bas.)

The Real Raj
The Real Raj is an exceptional singer-songwriter who has been playing live in Southampton for as long as the Art House has existed, at least. He’s ‘part of the furniture’ of Southampton’s music scene, popping up in pubs, venues, intimate festivals and charity raising gigs here, and all around, the South Coast. Depending on when you catch him you will find him playing guitar, harmonica, tambourine, mandolin, kazoo or ukulele – not necessarily in order or all at the same time but sometimes very close.
