Bunker178, the mobile offshoot of The Art House, are delighted to present a music stage at Arches Open Studios 2024 this weekend, showcasing local talent. The stage will be compered by local performance poet Nicola Beck. We’ve had a last minute change in lineup, sadly Margarita Sleepover can’t make it, but Pip Summers has kindly stepped in last minute!
Arches Open studios is a free event running on Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 June, 11am – 5pm, it is open to all and a popular feature in Southampton’s annual calendar of events. Find out more here.
Saturday 8 June
1pm – 2pm J Fashole-Luke

J Fashole-Luke (he/him) is a celebrated musician, known for his piano prowess and jazz background, gracing venues like Ronnie Scott’s and BBC’s “Later With Jools Holland”. He collaborates with international stars, shines at major festivals, heads the JFL Trio, and enriches Southampton’s music scene with live sessions and events.

2:30pm – 3:30pm Hedgehogs
Hedgehogs, Natalie Fisk (she/her) & James Carey (he/him), Southampton-based acoustic duo, specialise in Americana-style covers spanning decades, with a focus on 70s folk/rock. Collaborating for years, they extensively perform across Hampshire, delivering captivating renditions of popular tunes, enchanting audiences with their unique acoustic interpretations of beloved classics.

4pm – 5pm Pip Summers
Southampton-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Pip Summers (she/her) was spat out of a deep hole in the Earth in 2000, and has wandered aimless ever since. Wherever there is music and good vibes you can find Pip somewhere close by, singing her heart out as hard as she can to a small but growing crowd of appreciative listeners and friends.
Sunday 9 June

1pm – 2pm Lost Post
Lost Post are a Southampton based trio, formed by singer and guitarist Brandon Otto (he/him); bassist Niki Balazs (she/her); and lap steel, banjo, and harmonica player A.M. Davis (he/him). The band draw on the rich storytelling elements of both old-time American and traditional English music, woven into a unique blend of alt-country music.

2:30pm – 3:30pm The Guillotine Union Boys
The Guillotine Union Boys are the Reverend Sam (he/him) and Bo Gallows (he/him), adept in guitars, mandolin, and banjo, ignite vibrant performances. From spirituals to modern bluegrass, their unique flair promotes unity and progress. Outdoor gigs offer lively, crowd-rousing experiences, stirring solidarity and change with foot-stomping hullabaloos, promising an energetic musical journey.

4-5pm Southampton Ukulele jam
Southampton Ukulele Jam is a dynamic ensemble, blending jam sessions, community engagement, social gatherings, ukulele instruction, and live performances. Committed to social causes and charity fundraising, they promote tolerance through spirited renditions of eclectic tunes, spanning from Kylie Minogue to The Clash, delivered with passion on the most familiar of Hawaiian instruments.
